18 Ways To Make Money Watching Videos Online

make money watching videos online
One of the best features of modern technology is the ability to stream tv, movies, videos, and clips on demand anywhere in the world.
Online applications such as YouTube allow us to pick and choose all kinds of personalized entertainment, ranging from childrens’ shows and music to videos of other people opening packages, while streaming services such as Netflix allow us to binge watch our favorite movies and tv shows at a moments notice.
Many of us spend countless hours watching these various apps and streaming services, and since we’re online and on our couch watching these videos anyway, why shouldn’t we be getting paid to do it?

1. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the most recognized names in the online pay for watch and pay for click space. Their redeemable points and gift card model is extremely common throughout the industry, as you’ll see.
After signing up, you can earn points for watching videos, shopping online, searching the web, answering surveys, or finding online deals. Once you accumulate enough points you can trade the points in for gift cards at popular retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and PayPal.
The fun part about Swagbucks is that you can pick which online videos you want to watch, with categories such as news, sports, or travel, depending on your interests.
According to Swagbucks website, they give out over 7,000 gift cards a day, and they have paid out over $300,000,000 to their users, so it’s definitely worth a look to get some free money for nothing more than watching online videos.

2. MyPoints

Yet another site that offers ways to earn money by watching videos, taking surveys, playing games, and even printing coupons. MyPoints also offers a $5 signup bonus for first time users.
Signup in super simple, just provide a name and an email and you’re ready to go.
MyPoints rewards can be redeemed in the form of gift cards for some awesome companies, including Amazon, American Airlines, Best Buy, and Bath and Body Works. Points can also be redeemed with PayPal cards.

3. FusionCash

If you want to collect another $5 just for signing up, FusionCash also offers free money to new users.
One thing that stands out about FusionCash is the wide range of payout options. You can collect your earnings through check, direct deposit, or of course, PayPal.
Like so many other sites, you can make money in a variety of ways, including watching videos, taking surveys, and signing up for promotional offers.
FusionCash also has a section where you can sign up for offers that don’t require entering a credit card to participate. It can be annoying to enter your card and possibly have to cancel a trial offer later just to get some free money, and this site eliminates that problem for you.

4. InboxDollars

InboxDollars is a site that lets consumers tell companies what they like and dislike about their products. As opposed to many of the other sites listed, InboxDollars pays users in cash, not points.
User can earn money by watching television and ads, taking surveys, shopping, playing games, signing up for promotional offers, and reading emails. According to their website, they have paid out over $57 million to date to reviewers.
InboxDollars will send promotional emails to your inbox, on a daily basis. The more emails you open and the more your participate, the more emails you’ll get, up to 3 a day.
In addition to the regular earning you make for participation, new users will also receive a $5 bonus just for signing up.

5. Viggle

Viggle is a website that allows you to earn by watching tv shows on your laptop, phone, tablet, or other mobile device.
In order to get started, you need to sign up and download the Viggle app. When you’re ready to start watching your shows simply open the app, and you’ll earn points that you can redeem for gift cards, pre-paid debit cards, and other prizes.
The great thing about Viggle is that you can continue to watch the shows that you’d be watching anyway. In addition, some shows will reward bonus points for every minute that you’re online and watching, meaning that if you want to score bigger points and get rewards faster, it might be worth it to check out some new shows.
Viggle works with Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. In addition to online viewing, there are surveys, games, and social interactions that happen during breaks that allow you to earn extra points.

6. Perk.tv

If you’d prefer to make money by watching short videos and trailers, try Viggle’s sister site, Perk. Perk functions in much the same way as Viggle, but instead of watching full length shows, you can choose to watch short videos to earn rewards points, which you can then redeem for “perks”.
Perk offers some other ways to earn points on their site as well, including pop quizzes, rebates on online shopping, web searching, and downloading and testing out new apps.
In addition to trading in your points for gift cards, you can also use your points to purchase tokens, which can then be used to enter into Perk sweepstakes. These sweepstakes give you opportunities to win larger prizes such as Playstations, Xboxes, and iPhones.

7. Adfun

Adfun is a service that we’ve mentioned here before. With Adfun, you earn points by watching videos, and can increase you point earning potential by sharing the videos with friends on social media. The more friends in your network that view and interact with the video, the more points you earn.
One of the great things about this site is that it’s totally passive, so there’s no need to constantly be clicking on things after each video is complete. You can start a particular channel on the app and let it run in order to earn points throughout the day.
If you’re looking for an option that allows you to start a channel and make passive income while it runs in the background, Adfun is a great site to check out. Like many of the sites, the payout isn’t great, probably a few dollars a day, but it’s free money for having shows running in the background.

8. SendEarnings

SendEarning is a sister site to Inbox Dollars. It also offers a $5 sign up promotion for new users.
Like it’s other site, SendEarning relies on brands paying them for customer input, which is how they are able to pay you. The earning format is essentially the same. SendEarnings will send up to 3 emails a day to your inbox. Active participants will receive more emails and earning opportunities than those that rarely participate, so be sure that you are actively opening the emails you are receiving.
In addition, they have earning potential for most of the other pay for clicks tasks, such as surveys, games, shopping, signing up for offers, etc.
Since you can only get a total of 3 emails a day from each site, it’s worth it to sign up for both in order to double your earning potential each day.

9. Slidejoy

Slidejoy is an interactive app designed for use on your smartphone. Slidejoy works by displaying an add on your phone after you unlock it. A swipe right dismisses the ad, while a swipe left will take you to the website and allow you to further interact with the ad and the site.
The ads on Slidejoy range from videos, links to websites, or activating coupons. Interacting with the ads allows you to earn “carats” the Slidejoy version of points. You can also earn additional carats by referring other friends to the site by linking your Facebook account.
According to Slidejoy’s website, you’ll receive the same amount of carats whether you choose to interact with the ad, or to dismiss it. This means that there’s no pressure to like an ad that doesn’t interest you.

The site contains many different “offer walls”, with each wall offering a different type of advertisement, user survey, pay for click, and even a pay for listen section, giving you a range of options in order to make money while interacting with the site.
Like most of the other sites, you have a variety of money making opportunities, including surfing the web, signing up for promotions, and for referring friends via Facebook.
One of the great selling points of SuccessBux is that you only need to have $1.10 in your rewards account to request a payout, compared to many of the other sites that might have withdrawal requirements in the $25 range.
Payments are made to your PayPal account, and with the low withdrawal number, it is even possible to get paid out every week.
SuccessBux has over 184,000 members, and have paid out over $24,000 dollars since it began in 2012.

12. AppTrailers

As the name suggests, AppTrailers gives you rewards points for watching trailers of the hottest new apps. The app lets you learn about some of the coolest new apps on the market, while earning points that you can redeem for gift cards to businesses such as Amazon, Starbucks, iTunes, and Google Play.
You’ll also earn points by watching promos of music, television, and movies. While users say that this site doesn’t pay as much as some of the other sites out there, it does allow you to earn while you get a chance to see some of the newest apps and trailers on the market, and learn about new things that might interest you.

13. AppNana

AppNana pays you for downloading apps to your phone and interacting them. Many of these apps are games, but there are also non-gaming apps, videos and advertisements.
You’ll receive “nanas” (their version of rewards points) in different ways. In some instances you’ll receive nanas for simply downloading the app, while in other instances you’ll receive the rewards for reaching certain levels within games, or by completing certain tasks within the app.
Like most of the other sites listed here, you will be able to turn your nanas in for gift cards after you have accumulated a specific amount. Gift cards include Amazon, iTunes, XBox, Playstation, Nintendo, and PayPal.

14. EarningStation

Another great pay for clicks site is EarningStation. Again, the bread and butter is watchings short videos, playing sponsored games, online shopping, and taking customer surveys.
Like many of the other sites, you’ll be earning points for your efforts, and you’ll be able to trade these points in for gift cards. EarningStation though is somewhat limited, in that their website only offers gift cards for Amazon and PayPal.

15. CreationsRewards

CreationsRewards is one of the oldest sites on the list, founded in 2000.
If you’re a fan of the free $5 signup bonus for new users, CreationsRewards also offers this deal.
Like many of the other sites listed here, you’ll be paid to take daily surveys, shop online, watch videos, explore websites, try offers, you get the idea. You can also earn cash back rewards for shopping at dozens of stores listed on their website.

16. Netflix

Netflix is the largest streaming service in the world, and the name that everyone knows, so let’s start with them.
Most people know that when you’re searching for shows on Netflix you search through different categories to try and find new shows, series and movies to watch. What you may not know is these shows are categorized by actual viewers like you.
Occasionally, Netflix will hire for content taggers. These taggers are responsible for categorizing movies, documents, series, and shows, putting them into the Netflix categories so that viewers can find a show that matches their particular viewing interest.
Taggers not only categorize shows by genre, but also try and understand things like age appropriate content for children.
While these positions are notoriously hard to get, if you want to make a full time job of binge watching, this is definitely a good place to start.
When the jobs are open, the tagger positions can be found on the Netflix job board. While none were posted at the time of this writing, if you do manage to get one of these coveted jobs, you will be well compensated, especially considering that you’ll be spending your time doing what many people do anyway, watch TV.

17. Nielsen TV Family

One of the original and best known media study services and companies, the Nielsen measurement service got their start researching and studying the habits of radio listeners, and then moved into the TV field.
As opposed to most of the other companies and jobs on this list, the Nielsen company deals with traditional cable and network television.
Tracking the viewing habits of Nielsen families leads to the ratings numbers of many of your favorites tv shows, sitcoms, sporting events, and television series. Advertisers use these rating number to decide how much they will pay to run commercials during certain shows.
After an application process, Nielsen families are chosen at random, so you don’t need any specific experience. If selected, you’ll be paid for your time, which means that you’ll be making money for watching tv!
It’s worth noting that Nielsen tends to select more families during sweeps, which typically take place in February, May, July, and November.

18. Nielsen Digital Voice

American’s viewing habits are changing, and Nielsen knows that better than anyone. In order for the company to try and continue to monitor the viewing habits of a nation that is increasingly cutting the cord, they have devised a new service call Nielsen Digital Voice.
After you sign up for the service, you simply download the app, and continue to go about your regular online usage. The Nielsen app tracks your internet use, and that’s it.
By installing the app, users are automatically enrolled in month drawings for cash prizes. The longer that you’re online and using the app, the more entrees into drawings you receive.
Generally, awards range from $25 to $1,000 each month.
While many people might feel uncomfortable allowing an app to track their online use, especially if there’s no guarantee that they will make money in a given month, it should be noted that after installing the app there’s no extra work to put in on your part. you simply have to continue using the internet as you regularly would.
Nielsen is a respected company, and it’s an easy way to make some extra money without having to do anything outside of your normal internet routine.

Final Thoughts…

While you’re not going to become a millionaire from witching videos and ads full time on the internet, it is an easy way to make some free money by simply watching videos on your computer, tablet or phone.
There’s countless options out there, so it’s up to you to decide what format and what rewards are going to make it worth it for you. If you do have success or input about any of the sites or apps listed above, please let us know in the comments below, we’d love to hear them.
